In this month’s Snapshot, art and medicine come together to reveal the structures that sustain life. To explore the convergence between electronic art and molecular cardiology, we’re joined by visual artist and \u201cla Caixa\u201d Foundation fellow Isabel Merchante, and also researcher Jos\u00e9 Jalife from our network, head of the Cardiac Arrhythmias group at the Carlos III National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) and head of the study, published in the journal Nature, which explores the use of molecules present in the body to prevent acute arrhythmias and normalise the heart’s rhythm. We\u2019ll start with the artist.","og_url":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/snapshot-of-the-month-digital-topography\/","og_site_name":"Blog CaixaCi\u00e8ncia","article_published_time":"2026-10-27T14:32:22+00:00","og_image":[{"width":1920,"height":1080,"url":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/CR-Blog-InstantaniaOCT-01.jpg","type":"image\/jpeg"}],"author":"Ubikmedia","twitter_card":"summary_large_image","twitter_misc":{"Written by":"Ubikmedia","Est. reading time":"5 minutes"},"schema":{"@context":"https:\/\/schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/snapshot-of-the-month-digital-topography\/","url":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/snapshot-of-the-month-digital-topography\/","name":"Snapshot of the month: \u00abDigital topography\u00bb - Blog CaixaCi\u00e8ncia","isPartOf":{"@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/snapshot-of-the-month-digital-topography\/#primaryimage"},"image":{"@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/snapshot-of-the-month-digital-topography\/#primaryimage"},"thumbnailUrl":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/CR-Blog-InstantaniaOCT-01.jpg","datePublished":"2026-10-27T14:32:22+00:00","author":{"@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/#\/schema\/person\/2b9d5310c27055b4862191402c387fca"},"inLanguage":"en-US","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/snapshot-of-the-month-digital-topography\/"]}]},{"@type":"ImageObject","inLanguage":"en-US","@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/snapshot-of-the-month-digital-topography\/#primaryimage","url":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/CR-Blog-InstantaniaOCT-01.jpg","contentUrl":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/CR-Blog-InstantaniaOCT-01.jpg"},{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/#website","url":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/","name":"Blog CaixaCi\u00e8ncia","description":"","potentialAction":[{"@type":"SearchAction","target":{"@type":"EntryPoint","urlTemplate":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/?s={search_term_string}"},"query-input":{"@type":"PropertyValueSpecification","valueRequired":true,"valueName":"search_term_string"}}],"inLanguage":"en-US"},{"@type":"Person","@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/#\/schema\/person\/2b9d5310c27055b4862191402c387fca","name":"Ubikmedia","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","inLanguage":"en-US","@id":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/#\/schema\/person\/image\/","url":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/ccc66bc497f8ba496f9d06e5a58a91de?s=96&d=mm&r=g","contentUrl":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/ccc66bc497f8ba496f9d06e5a58a91de?s=96&d=mm&r=g","caption":"Ubikmedia"},"url":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/author\/ubikmedia\/"}]}},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/14498","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/5"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=14498"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/14498\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":14547,"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/14498\/revisions\/14547"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=14498"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=14498"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=14498"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
