I les meduses van tornar a ser protagonistes. A finals del maig passat va sortir la noticia que la FAO recomanava menjar meduses, com una cosa nova. Per\u00f2\u2026 \u00e9s realment nou, aix\u00f2 de menjar meduses?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/ca\/Post140305_1_El+mar+a+fons_1.jpg\" style=\"width: 400px; height: 225px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Medusa \u00abmoca\u00bb (<em>Rhizostoma pulmo<\/em>) (Font: \u00abEl mar a fons\u00bb).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> A l&#8217;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.icm.csic.es\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Institut de Ci\u00e8ncies del Mar de Barcelona (ICM-CSIC)<\/a>, el grup del professor Gili lidera, entre d&#8217;altres, una l\u00ednia de recerca en biologia i ecologia de pl\u00e0ncton gelatin\u00f3s, on les meduses tenen un paper rellevant.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Hi ha cultures, com la d&#8217;Indoxina, on la cuina tradicional sempre ha incorporat plats preparats amb meduses. Per\u00f2, de moment, s\u00f3n les proliferacions de meduses les que amo\u00efnen la poblaci\u00f3. Durant el per\u00edode estival \u00e9s quan les meduses s\u00f3n m\u00e9s nombroses a les nostres platges. Aix\u00f2 es deu al fet que, en primer lloc, les que s\u00f3n m\u00e9s costaneres tenen forma de medusa durant els mesos d&#8217;estiu i en canvi estan en forma de p\u00f2lip al fons del mar durant la resta de l&#8217;any; i en segon, al fet que durant l&#8217;estiu, les condicions de corrents i vents porten a la costa les meduses que hi ha a mar obert. S\u00f3n aquestes meduses de mar obert les que produeixen grans eixams. Aquestes, a difer\u00e8ncia de les costaneres, no tenen fase p\u00f2lip i tenen dues generacions per any, amb la qual cosa es poden trobar a l&#8217;aigua durant tot l&#8217;any.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <strong>Proliferaci\u00f3 de meduses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Per\u00f2\u2026 per qu\u00e8 proliferen tant, des de fa uns anys? Les meduses s\u00f3n un av\u00eds, un SOS, del mar. El canvi que la humanitat causa als mars amb la sobrepesca es tradueix, entre altres coses, en proliferacions de meduses. Si pesquem els peixos que mengen meduses, aquestes queden m\u00e9s lliures de depredadors i poden proliferar, de manera que ocupen el lloc que anteriorment tenien els peixos a les xarxes tr\u00f2fiques marines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/ca\/Post140305_2_El+mar+a+fons_2.jpg\" style=\"width: 400px; height: 225px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Medusa \u00abou ferrat\u00bb (<em>Cotylorhiza tuberculata<\/em>) (Font: \u00abEl mar a fons\u00bb).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Per\u00f2 tornem al tema de la not\u00edcia de l&#8217;estiu passat: no totes les meduses es poden menjar. A m\u00e9s, si pensem que m\u00e9s del 95% del seu cos \u00e9s aigua, potser no paga la pena l&#8217;esfor\u00e7 de processar-les com a menjar. A part de les enormes quantitats que se n&#8217;haurien de pescar per obtenir for\u00e7a producte final, tamb\u00e9 s&#8217;ha de treure&#8217;ls el ver\u00ed. A m\u00e9s, perqu\u00e8 un recurs natural sigui rendible econ\u00f2micament, hauria de ser molt constant i predicible, que no \u00e9s el cas de les meduses. Entre les meduses mediterr\u00e0nies, es podria menjar l&#8217;anomenada \u00abou ferrat\u00bb (<em>Cotylorhiza tuberculata<\/em>), per\u00f2 no surt a compte des del punt de vista econ\u00f2mic. I, a m\u00e9s, encara no ha passat les proves toxicol\u00f2giques exigides per les normatives europees per a les esp\u00e8cies de consum hum\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <strong>Les meduses, grans desconegudes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Potser el debat sobre si les meduses s&#8217;haurien de comercialitzar com a menjar o no estar\u00e0 en boca de molts aquest estiu, per\u00f2 el m\u00e9s important \u00e9s recordar les recomanacions de seguretat en cas que n&#8217;hi hagi. Aix\u00ed, hem de saber que cal posar-se abundant crema solar i no banyar-se si hi ha moltes meduses a l&#8217;aigua. Sab\u00edeu que s\u00f3n \u00abcosines germanes\u00bb dels coralls, per dir-ho popularment? \u00c9s a dir, els coralls tropicals i les meduses pertanyen al grup dels <a href=\"https:\/\/ca.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cnidari\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">cnidaris<\/a>.
