El treball d\u2019aquesta investigadora, que se centra en la visualitzaci\u00f3 de la cristal\u00b7litzaci\u00f3 en ribosomes, \u00e9s fonamental per ajudar a millorar els antibi\u00f2tics actuals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> \u00abFins i tot els nens de deu anys saben qu\u00e8 \u00e9s el codi gen\u00e8tic\u00bb, va explicar Yonath. Les prote\u00efnes, que s\u00f3n pol\u00edmers \u2014llargues cadenes\u2014 d\u2019amino\u00e0cids,\u00a0 desenvolupen pr\u00e0cticament totes les funcions essencials dels organismes vius. Algunes s\u00f3n necess\u00e0ries per a funcions b\u00e0siques, com la respiraci\u00f3, la digesti\u00f3 i el moviment muscular, i d\u2019altres responen a la pressi\u00f3, com l\u2019exposici\u00f3 a la calor o el fred, la resposta immunol\u00f2gica o errades als nostres \u00f2rgans, entre d\u2019altres.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Si mirem l\u2019estructura d\u2019un enzim t\u00edpic, veurem que les prote\u00efnes estan formades per llargues cadenes d\u2019amino\u00e0cids, dels quals trobem vint tipus diferents. La seva funci\u00f3 est\u00e0 determinada per la seva seq\u00fc\u00e8ncia a les prote\u00efnes. A banda, els ribosomes, complexos macromoleculars de prote\u00efnes i \u00e0cid ribonucleic (ARN), s\u00f3n els centres cel\u00b7lulars de traducci\u00f3 que possibiliten l\u2019expressi\u00f3 g\u00e8nica. Els ribosomes s\u00f3n universals en la seva funci\u00f3, \u00e9s a dir, funcionen d\u2019una manera molt similar a totes les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules, independentment de la font. <em>In vivo<\/em>, els ribosomes actuen cont\u00ednuament, a partir de quaranta lligaments de p\u00e8ptids en un segon i pr\u00e0cticament sense cometre cap errada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Jml8CFBWcDs\" width=\"400\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Els ribosomes son f\u00e0briques universals que produeixen prote\u00efnes cont\u00ednuament a partir de la descodificaci\u00f3 de la informaci\u00f3 gen\u00e8tica a les c\u00e8l\u00b7lules vives. \u00c9s a dir, s\u00f3n els encarregats de sintetitzar prote\u00efnes a partir de la informaci\u00f3 continguda a l\u2019ADN, que arriba transcrita als ribosomes en forma d\u2019ARN missatger (ARNm).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <strong>Resist\u00e8ncia antimicrobiana, un problema greu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Abans del descobriment dels antibi\u00f2tics, hi havia molta mortalitat per malalties infecciones. Els antibi\u00f2tics naturals s\u00f3n armes que els bacteris fan servir per interaccionar amb la vida d\u2019altres esp\u00e8cies de microorganismes. Per\u00f2 com \u00e9s possible que els petits antibi\u00f2tics puguin paralitzar l\u2019activitat dels ribosomes? Doncs perqu\u00e8 n\u2019interfereixen la funci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> La resist\u00e8ncia als antibi\u00f2tics \u00e9s un dels problemes actuals i futurs,\u00a0 per les seves implicacions tant en salut com socials i econ\u00f2miques. Segons l\u2019Organitzaci\u00f3 Mundial de la Salut (OMS), cada any moren unes 700.000 persones arreu del m\u00f3n per resist\u00e8ncia antimicrobiana. I podria pujar a m\u00e9s de deu milions de morts l\u2019any 2050, cosa que superaria la xifra de persones mortes per c\u00e0ncer. \u00abEstem arribant a una era post-antibi\u00f2tica a causa de \u00a0la resist\u00e8ncia antimicrobiana (els bacteris es fan resistents als antibi\u00f2tics disponibles) i a la manca de nous antibi\u00f2tics perqu\u00e8 hi ha molt poques farmac\u00e8utiques que en desenvolupen de nous perqu\u00e8 s\u00f3n massa costosos i comercialitzar-los dona pocs beneficis econ\u00f2mics\u00bb, va explicar la investigadora.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.caixaresearch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/ca\/antibiotics-cosmo2.png\" style=\"width: 400px; height: 300px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Moment de la xerrada d\u2019Ada Yonath, on explica que tots aquests artistes o intel\u00b7lectuals van morir joves per malalties infeccioses. Els\u00a0 bacteris s\u00f3n molt intel\u00b7ligents i volen viure. Cada cop hi ha menys f\u00e0rmacs per lluitar-hi en contra. I doncs, com ho fem? Com hi lluitem en contra? Podem mirar l\u2019estructura dels ribosomes dels bacteris patog\u00e8nics i analitzar-la. Fins ara hem apr\u00e8s que les estructures de tots els ribosomes dels bacteris s\u00f3n similars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> \u00c9s possible incrementar l\u2019efectivitat dels antibi\u00f2tics? \u00abS\u00ed, podem fer antibi\u00f2tics m\u00e9s potents. I es poden desenvolupar nous antibi\u00f2tics, m\u00e9s espec\u00edfics, si es treballa la zona de bloqueig dels ribosomes. Podem dissenyar antibi\u00f2tics espec\u00edfics per a cada persona. Per aix\u00f2 haur\u00edem de mirar el microbioma de cada persona\u00bb, va explicar Yonath.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> \u00abEn definitiva, la visualitzaci\u00f3 de l\u2019estructura dels ribosomes de bacteris resistents ens permet dissenyar antibi\u00f2tics espec\u00edfics per a cada patogen\u00bb, va concloure la ponent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <strong>Igualtat de la dona a la ci\u00e8ncia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Cal destacar la lluita de la investigadora Ada Yonath per la igualtat de la dona al camp de la ci\u00e8ncia.
