En aquest marc, un grup d\u2019investigadors ha impulsat un model biof\u00edsic per entendre l\u2019impacte dels corrents marins sobre els mecanismes que controlen la producci\u00f3 biol\u00f2gica i l\u2019ecosistema del mar d\u2019Alboran.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Fruit de la investigaci\u00f3 de MEDCLIC, la revista <em>Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans<\/em> ha publicat l\u2019article <a href=\"https:\/\/agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1002\/2017JC012866\"><em>Modulation of frontogenetic plankton production along a meandering jet by zonal wind forcing: An application to the Alboran Sea<\/em><\/a>, en qu\u00e8 s\u2019estudien els processos que afecten la distribuci\u00f3 de fitopl\u00e0ncton al mar d\u2019Alboran mitjan\u00e7ant un model biof\u00edsic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> El resultat de l\u2019estudi conclou que la for\u00e7a del \u00abraig\u00bb provinent de l\u2019Atl\u00e0ntic a trav\u00e9s de l\u2019Estret i la variabilitat dels vents alteren d\u2019una manera significativa la distribuci\u00f3 de fitopl\u00e0ncton, base de la cadena tr\u00f2fica a l\u2019oce\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Gr\u00e0cies a aquest estudi, l\u2019equip cient\u00edfic ha demostrat que el potent corrent d\u2019aig\u00fces atl\u00e0ntiques que entra per l\u2019Estret (anomenat <em>jet<\/em> o \u00abraig atl\u00e0ntic\u00bb), juntament amb els remolins associats i els moviments verticals que genera, impulsen nutrients cap a la superf\u00edcie. Aix\u00f2 permet la fotos\u00edntesi de la mat\u00e8ria org\u00e0nica (producci\u00f3 prim\u00e0ria), cosa que constitueix un enriquiment biol\u00f2gic important de la zona.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Els investigadors han pogut comprovar que el corrent tamb\u00e9 afecta l\u2019enriquiment de nutrients al llarg de l\u2019any. Aix\u00ed, per exemple, la intensitat del raig a final d\u2019estiu i principi de la tardor beneficia la producci\u00f3 de fitopl\u00e0ncton. Aquests organismes s\u00f3n la base de la cadena tr\u00f2fica, cosa que afavoreix la concentraci\u00f3 de petits pel\u00e0gics de la zona (com el seit\u00f3 i la sardina), determinants per a l\u2019activitat pesquera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> A m\u00e9s, els investigadors han demostrat que els vents intensos de ponent (oest), freq\u00fcents en aquesta zona, reforcen el corrent i la producci\u00f3 prim\u00e0ria associada. Nota sobre les sigles: WAG: gir anticicl\u00f2nic oest; EAG: gir anticicl\u00f2nic est; NCE: remol\u00ed cicl\u00f2nic nord; CCE: remol\u00ed cicl\u00f2nic central.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Els resultats constitueixen un pas endavant en l\u2019estudi dels ecosistemes marins, ja que permeten anticipar-ne l\u2019adaptabilitat als impactes clim\u00e0tics i de l\u2019activitat humana, i aix\u00ed poder actuar amb perspectiva i crear possibles plans de conting\u00e8ncia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> Aquesta tasca respon al repte de la comunitat cient\u00edfica en el desenvolupament, la validaci\u00f3 i la integraci\u00f3 de models num\u00e8rics de l\u2019oce\u00e0, eines clau en la gesti\u00f3 sostenible dels recursos marins per la seva capacitat de descriure les interaccions entre el medi f\u00edsic i l\u2019ecosistema.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <strong>Un motor din\u00e0mic de biodiversitat al Mediterrani <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> L\u2019equip de recerca ha centrat l\u2019estudi en el mar d\u2019Alboran, una \u00e0rea d\u2019alt inter\u00e8s cient\u00edfic pel fet que es produeix un important intercanvi d\u2019aig\u00fces, la qual cosa origina una complexa din\u00e0mica de corrents. A trav\u00e9s de l\u2019Estret, les aig\u00fces de l\u2019Atl\u00e0ntic, menys denses, entren a la conca mediterr\u00e0nia per la superf\u00edcie i formen l\u2019abans esmentat raig atl\u00e0ntic.
